FAQs

How do I choose a good gastroenterologist for me?

Referrals

Your GP will likely refer you to a specialist they recommend. This referral does not mean you have to see this specialist, you have the flexibility to decide which specialist you see. However, your doctor would have a good idea about your individual needs and would likely refer you to a specialist practitioner they believe would be a good fit.

Research

If your GP has referred you to a specialist, research them online to see if they would be a good fit for you and your needs. If the specialist works at a practice with specialist colleagues, you can even consider exploring your options there.

Experience

Consider the specialists’ experience and qualifications. Do you want an older doctor treating you, or are you comfortable with an emerging specialist? These are things to consider when selecting a gastroenterologist, including their relevant qualifications and extra specialisation they might have undertaken.

Location

Convenience is key and you would want to access your gastroenterologist as easily as possible, especially considering some of the procedures undertaken – you might not want to be in transit for too long!

We are conveniently located in the heart of the Southern Highlands, in 45 Bowral Street, Bowral NSW 2576.

Some specialists also operate out of a private hospital so it is important to pay attention to the actual location of the practitioner – not just the street address with the road number.
